Healthy Drinks You Need to Try in 2020

By Michael

If there is anything that the year 2020 taught us, it is to prioritize our health most of all. The appearance of novel viruses makes the fight even more difficult. That is why each of us has to do our part in boosting our immunity from the food that we eat to the beverages that we drink.

Have you ever tried watching what you are consuming? If you have not done that yet, this year is a good opportunity for you to change your lifestyle and strengthen your overall immunity to diseases. You can start with what you drink.

There are other beneficial beverages besides water. Take a look at the different healthy drinks you can try this year:

Infused Water

We all know that water is the most recommended drink if we want to pursue a healthy lifestyle. But, let us face it – drinking water is a bland affair and we sometimes struggle to drink the eight glasses that we need every day.

But the good news is, you can perk it up to make it better for your body by infusing it with other natural ingredients. We call this infused water and it is certainly one of the healthy drinks that you need to try this year.

Infused water or detox water is water that has been infused with the flavors of fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs. It is known to have detoxifying properties. It also promotes weight loss and clarifies the skin.  You can tweak the health benefits of your drink by mixing different organic ingredients.  Here are some infused water recipes that you can try:

Minty Citrusy Delight. This drink features the refreshing taste of lemon and lime intensified by mint leaves and cucumber.  Mix everything in a pitcher of water, stir, and leave overnight in the refrigerator. The natural ingredients in this drink help in weight management, appetite control, and good digestion.

·         1 pitcher of water

·         2 lemons sliced

·         1 lime sliced

·         1/2 cup mint leaves

·         1/2 cup sliced cucumber

Fresh Fruit Quencher. Fruit-flavored water will not let you down. Be sure to mix everything in the water and let it brew for up to two days for maximum flavor. Watermelon is rich in lycopene and kiwi is a good source of vitamin C.

·         6 cups of water

·         1 kiwi, sliced into thin circles

·         1 cup watermelon, cubed

·         1 lime or lemon, sliced into thin circles or half-moons

Green Tea

Green tea has long been a staple drink in Asian countries. Western countries are now picking up the trend of starting the day with green tea and there is no reason for you to miss out on the health benefits that you can derive from this cup. The drink is known to be rich in anti-oxidants, especially catechin, which has anti-cancer properties. Studies also show that green tea can help the body burn excess fat. It is thus widely used as a weight-loss supplement.

Plant-based Milk

The vegans were right. Plant-based milk is indeed a healthy alternative if you are avoiding dairy.

Plant milk refers to the non-dairy beverages obtained from plants, which often provide a similar creamy consistency as dairy milk. A lot of plant-based milk brands are available in the market today derived from various beans, grains, and nuts like almonds, oats, soybeans, walnuts, and rice. You can also easily make your own.

Drinking non-dairy milk is known to be a cruelty-free alternative to dairy since no sentient being is harmed in manufacturing it. Plant milk is rich in calcium, protein, and fortified with other nutrients. It boasts that it does not have saturated fat, which clogs the arteries, hormones, and antibiotics, which can make you more susceptible to illnesses.

Kombucha

There is no need to fear this foreign-sounding beverage – it is one of the healthiest on the planet! Kombucha is a fermented black or green tea sweetened with sugar. It has the same health benefits as tea with the addition of probiotics. Probiotics are good for your tummy since it supplies your stomach with healthy bacteria, which can aid in digestion, combat inflammation, and help in weight loss.

Coconut Water

Need a tropical delight to quench your thirst? Coconut water is the juice found in young coconuts. It is an effective beverage for hydration. This potassium-rich sweet nutty drink is also a source of vitamins, minerals, and lots of electrolytes. No wonder it is considered as a natural alternative for sports drinks.Coupled with the right food, these healthy drinks are sure to keep you physically fit this year. But even if you visit a walk in clinic Guelph center because you feel a bit under the weather, these beverages can hydrate you and give you the vitamins and minerals that you need. Give them a try this 2020!
